Pizza Party at the Princess Margaret Showhome

The 2015 Princess Margaret Showhome welcomed gawkers and guests to a special event to scope out the stunning $3.6 million dollar prize built by Greenpark and designed by Jack Celli. On hand for a personal tour, Jack took us around his work of art and showed off all the nitty gritty details that make a house a home including the majestic high ceilings, distressed hardwood flooring, custom cabinetry and lux materials (like the feature wall entirely hand made of plaster).

On hand to further woo the crowd was none other than master pizza maker Chef Rocco Agostino of Pizza Libretto fame. While his infamous pizza restaurants rely on wood ovens to torch his delicious pies, here Rocco got to try the latest craze for home cooks, the iDeck pizza ovens that cook a pizza in about 90 seconds. That’s like nukin’ a pizza pop!

You burn a lot of calories touring a 7,000 sq ft home, so it was a real treat having Chef Rocco waiting in the gourmet (and state of the art) kitchen with dinner ready. Swoon. The kitchen itself is unlike anything I’ve seen before, the quartzite countertops glisten and add a dose of glamour to the otherwise muted grey palette. I loved the Selba cabinets and the six gas burner was no joke. I don’t think I could have dreamed up a better kitchen in my life. The adjacent servery was a great catch all for coffee and wine and extra pantry items. This house is clearly set up for some serious entertaining. A lanai (love the aloha!) juts out from the kitchen for a beautiful indoor/outdoor space.

Rosewood Winery was also on hand to quench our thirst with their lineup of tasty wines, with guests quaffing the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or Cabernet Franc. I can’t say enough good things about these wines (or the winery) and it’s a must stop on my frequent trips to Niagara- even if it’s just to stop for the stunning scenery!

The bedrooms (5 in total) are all slightly different but equally as well thought out. Bicycles form the main design behind this nifty room, fitting for any serious Tour de France fan.

Cyclist's room
The cozy guest room features a generous layout and the same sumptuous look and feel textile wise as the rest of the rooms. All feature their own bathrooms as well, so no morning hassles for your little Dick and Jane en route to school.

The master bedroom is nothing short of magnificent. Jack certainly has a keen on eye for layering, and his approach to this room is no different. All the materials mesh so well, it took everything in me not to grab a book and perch myself on this gorgeous bed. The custom upholstered headboard just looks like the perfect headrest, and the mega sized ottoman would be the perfect spot to arm wrestle your partner for first pick for side of the bed. The ensuite features the best layout ever, separate everything, which after being married for 10 years, I can tell you that double closets have saved many a fight, double water closets are just a natural progression!

Sweet Ensuite

The girls room is a sweet departure from the muted colours, here yellow steals the show and announces it’s distinctly feminine presence. The canopy bed and tasteful art all create a lovely room that any girl could love now, or grow into (too) soon. I have two daughters that would flip for this design!

My fave room

The powder room features a really cool feature- a circular sink anchoring the middle of the room! The toilet is discreetly hidden water closet style, making hand washing a glamourous hygienic practice.

So, what are you waiting for? I for one would welcome a shift up to 905-land in search of greener pastures, a pair of dogs named Apollo and Zeus and I’m set!
