Nike WomenLast weekend’s NBA Allstar game here in Toronto once again brought the spotlight on the 6 and transplanted Toronto into a basketball bouncing six soaked city, with free balls left seemingly all over downtown, and our fave actor turned rapper (take that Snow!) peppering the streets with billboards and posters, as well as coaching the celebrity basketball game.
I got in on the action and hit the courts at Mattamy Athletic Centre and spent some time doing drills with the crew, as well as with a real pro basketball player, Miss Natalie Achonwa, who’s prepping for the podium at Rio 2016.
There’s something really amazing training with a pro athlete, you immediately take on a new energy, and with Natalie’s unbridled love for the sport and kinetic energy, it was easy getting swept up in the action. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and when you’re training for a race, tournament or where ever your next fitness goal takes you, having a social media motivator isn’t a bad move. I gawk at many pics pro-athletes, fitness enthusiasts and personal trainers to get my motivation. In our social soaked environment it’s easy to have a bounty of drool-worthy accounts to follow, building a relationship and knowing that everyone struggles, even the pros.
Eva Redpath and her Insta are poppin’ with pretty pics of fitness drills, and the Nike Master Trainer curates a dialogue through this imagery, “Choose an accountability partner to inspire journeys. Look for the ultimate accountability partner, declare your journey and document your health and fitness journey through that conversation.” So whether you’re new to sports, or honing in on a running season pumped up by PB’s, know you’re not alone, get in on the action-join the conversation. You never know who you’ll inspire.
Monday marks a new Margot vs Lily too- check it out! Whether you’re firmly a #margotviking or teamed up with team #lilyninja, either story is uplifting!
